Bdawg says:  This is a Tennessee whiskey not a bourbon.  Both have almost identical requirements.  The main difference in production is that, sometime after distillation, Tennessee whiskey must be filtered through sugar maple charcoal.  To me this results in a much smoother whiskey with less bite.  I love it.
